It was 10:59 a.m. on Tuesday, and the new Seasons Clifton-Passaic store entrance was buzzing with anticipation as anxious patrons awaited its 11 a.m. opening. Adorned with festive balloons, with snow cones and cotton candy available nearby, the doors finally slid open. The crowd responded with a coordinated rush forward to pick up carts, “upload” kids into cart seats and then swivel right into the enormous and beautiful store. As the crowd spread quickly in every direction, some of the store owners and managers took a moment to speak about this monumental addition to the kosher community of local grocery vendors.

Sellout Jewish Unity Concert Wows Bergen County

This past Wednesday evening, July 6, upwards of 1,000 Jewish residents hailing from 61 Bergen and Hudson County municipalities gathered at the Bergen PAC for a program and concert uniting the entire community and sponsored by the nine Chabad Centers located in the towns above.

The evening’s program was conceived as a modern celebration of Hakhel, an ancient Biblical tradition at which the entire Jewish nation—adults, children and even infants—would gather together in Jerusalem for a “re-enactment” of the revelation at Mt. Sinai and to reinvigorate their Jewish devotion and commitment.

Bais Medrash of Bergenfield Hosts Scholar-In-Residence

This Shabbat, the Bais Medrash of Bergenfield, at 371 South Prospect Avenue, welcomes Rabbi Yedidya Atlas as a scholar-in-residence. At 7:10 on Shabbat afternoon he will speak about “The IDF Rabbinate: How to Make a Jewish Army Jewish.” Following Mincha, at seudah shlishit at 8, he will deliver words on “Leadership, Responsibility, and Mesirat Nefesh—Defining Today’s IDF.”

A graduate of Yeshivat Mercaz Harav, Rabbi Atlas made aliyah from Philadelphia when he was 17 years old. Phil Murphy Seeks to Expand NJ Ties With Israel During Visit

Phil Murphy, Democratic candidate for governor, visited Israel this week and met  with business and government leaders on ways to expand New Jersey’s economic, security and cultural ties.

“The ties between New Jersey and Israel are important not only because of the shared heritage of many of our people, but also because of the economics that link our states,” said Murphy, an expert in international finance and the former US Ambassador to Germany. “As governor, I want to make New Jersey a true world leader in the trade of both goods and ideas.
