Scott and Abigail Herschmann, along with Yehuda and Roni Blinder, hosted U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) in Englewood for a pro-Israel NORPAC event on Sunday evening, July 10. Senator Kirk has made a reputation in Congress as an author or early co-sponsor of legislation halting Iran’s nuclear development. He was a staunch opponent of the administration’s Iran deal (JCPOA) last year.

The seeds of the Jewish Historical Society of North Jersey were sown over 35 years ago by Sylvia Firschein, then Librarian at the Y in Wayne. Sylvia received requests for information about former Jewish Patersonians after the Y moved from Paterson to Wayne. She put out a request for people who might be interested in conducting oral interviews of seniors. Daughters of Miriam Celebrates L’dor V’dor

Clifton—One of the central concepts of Judaism—L’dor V’dor—“from generation to generation”—was celebrated at the Daughters of Miriam Center/The Gallen Institute recently when four generations of the Thaler/Varnai family gathered for the bar mitzvah of Joel Varnai. Varnai, whose great-grandmother Marion Bernstein has resided in Miriam Apartments II since 2010, made his first aliyah in the Garfinkle Chapel at Daughters of Miriam Center surrounded by family, friends and residents of the center, who joyously participated in this important religious milestone event.
