Understanding the ‘Lone Wolf Terrorism’ in Israel

There was an interesting twist to news media coverage of the most recent Palestinian terrorist attacks against Israelis.

The stabbings, car-rammings and other Arab attacks were “isolated” incidents, the Associated Press declared. New York Times correspondent Diaa Hadid emphasized, in the second sentence of a recent...

Rallies Against Iran Deal Continue After Pact’s Passage

Only a handful of days had passed since the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) and other organizations lobbied Congress against the impending nuclear deal with Iran.

Indeed, the Orthodox Union (OU) and the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) issued a joint statement of concern and condemnation of the pact.

At a September 9 rally on Capitol Hill against the deal, the OU’s president Martin Nachimson said, “The reason we are gathered here – in the shadow of the Capitol – is to make a clear statement that this deal is morally repugnant. Under this deal, the Iranian regime will be given greater legitimacy, power and money, despite its being deeply anti-America, anti-Semitic and...

We Must Keep Nuclear Weapons Out of Iran

President Obama repeatedly told the American people that no deal with Iran is better than a bad deal. Despite that promise, this week the House will be voting on the president’s deal that will give Iran sanctions relief while jeopardizing the security of the United States and its allies. I will be voting “no.”

This deal will not make the world a safer place; it will start a countdown until Iran has nuclear weapons.

To be clear, Iran is one of only three countries in the world that is considered a sponsor of terrorism by the U.S. Department of State. Their repeated call for the destruction of the United States, Israel, and our way of life has been consistent for decades. Iran...

Why Can’t We Argue Civilly?

Orthodox Judaism emphasizes Talmud study. Some people love the analysis-and-debate format of the Talmud but other people prefer studying the final decisions of the Talmud. They don’t enjoy the argument and discussion in the Talmud, and they most certainly do not love the layer upon layer of subsequent debate about the arguments in the Talmud. They simply want the sausage without seeing how it is made.

I happen to enjoy the Talmud’s version of the Socratic method. I especially love the intensity of later commentaries arguing vociferously over small details with broad ramifications.

From a historical perspective, Talmudic argument until the modern era was very different from modern...

Does the Pending Deal with Iran Prevent Another 9/11 or Enable It?

It was not so long ago that Federal District Court Judge Daniels ruled Iran, including the Ayatollah Khomeini, was responsible for the 9/11 attacks on the U.S.

The historic ruling was entered, on December 22, 2011, in the Havlish case, brought by family members and legal representatives of victims of 9/11. The judge also issued 53 pages of detailed Findings of Facts and Conclusions of Law that describe the role Iran and its various governmental organs played in this horrible attack on the homeland.

Among other things, the court found:

1. Iran has been waging war against the United States and Israel for over 30 years.

2. The Ayatollah Khomeini holds the power to dismiss the...
