MTA Lions Come From Behind to Win JV Softball Championship

It was a beautiful Father’s Day morning as the junior varsity softball MTA Lions took to the field against the DRS Wildcats of the Five Towns for the 2016 Yeshiva League Championship. Tension filled the air as these two powerhouse teams got set to face off. On the MTA side of the field, family, fellow students and faculty enjoyed a school-provided BBQ.

The game began. With one out in the top of the first, Ellie Roz of the Wildcats launched an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence, giving the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, the Lions clawed their way back when sophomore Chaim Weinstein drilled a line drive into centerfield, scoring freshman Yaron Kahan.

Father’s Day weekend was jam-packed with exciting MGBL action as the high school league played rounds one and two of the playoffs. The morning began with an exciting back and forth game between The Yeshivat Orayta team and team Embroidme/Signarama. When the final buzzer sounded Yeshivat Orayta emerged as the 64-52 winners and earned a trip back to the gym for round two later in the day.

Team Sharsheret and Camp Shalom 1, played a thriller to open round two. Camp Shalom 1 collected the victory 76-72. Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders then faced Yeshivat Orayta and walked away the victors 77-34. Team Jawbreakers came up short against Hey Boys 53-81 and Five Star Caterers...

Frisch Cougars Varsity Softball Wins First-Ever Championship

The Frisch boys varsity softball team completed an undefeated season by defeating YDE (Yeshivat Derech Eretz) in the championship game by a score of 10-8.

Throughout the season, Frisch’s stellar defense put them in position to win every game. Up until the championship game, the team had not allowed more than 3 runs in any single game. Josh Chesner was the team’s star pitcher, and he managed to consistently keep hitters off balance by changing speeds and location, while staying right around the strike zone. The infield play was crisp, as the combination of Scott Levine (1b), Seth Forman, Jacob Levine (2b), Andrew Langer (SS) and Isaac Laifer (3b) showed...

Frisch Baseball Team Wins Third Consecutive Championship

The Frisch Cougars baseball team won their third consecutive Yeshiva Championship on Father’s Day, Sunday June 19 at the beautiful Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona, New York. They defeated TABC in the finals for the second year in a row, this year by a score of 4-0.

Led by junior pitching phenom Jake Lebovitch (3-1), the Frisch Cougars shut down the TABC offense on 2 hits, striking out 11 and walking only 2 on a 104 pitch masterpiece.
