Summer is a great time to stay in shape and engage in physical activity. And whether it be playing sports, swimming, or bicycling, the summer provides ample opportunities to stay fit. this summer, one of these many opportunities is the Coach Herenda Hoop School.

The school is in its second year under Greg Herenda, the head coach of the Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s basketball team. It was previously run by longtime head coach Tom Green before Herenda took over last year. The camp runs from June 27 to June 30, and is for boys and girls ages 8 to 16. The senior boys Rothenberg Law Firm Reds started their year off tough, with a few close calls but no wins. That was until Memorial Day weekend when they swept a double header and entered the playoffs as the last seed. On Monday night, they faced the CoolKippahs.com Cardinals, the 2 seed in a classic YYL playoff matchup. Posting 6 runs in the first inning, anchored by Jake Rothenberg’s 3-run homer, the Reds struck first. As they do, the Cardinals nipped away at the lead until it was tied after 6 innings. MTA Lions Defeat Hillel Heat in Softball Quarterfinals

Last Friday, MTA’s junior varsity softball team faced off against the Hillel Heat in the quarterfinals. MTA had lost to Hillel in the regular season 7-0, but the result of the playoff game was very different.

As the away team, the Lions started off the game with three straight hits by Eitan Warburg, Coby Sorotzki and Gabe Isaacs. With the bases loaded, Daniel Landa hit a 2-RBI double to give MTA an early lead. Hillel tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a two-run home run, but MTA regained the lead in the second inning. Coby Sorotzkin hit a 2-RBI triple, and Gabe Isaacs hit a single to score Sorotzkin.

Miracle on the Tennis Court: MTA Lions Defeat Top Seeded Cobras

On Tuesday night, the MTA Lions Tennis Team came to the courts determined to win their last match of the season. After previous setbacks, they were motivated to do whatever it would take to battle their opponent, the Kushner Cobras.

As MTA arrived at the courts, they watched in fear as the all-star Kushner team practiced. Yet, the Lions were motivated by their inspirational coach, Eli Gerwitz.
